Partners
One of the key factors in the success of the IFSD has been a partnership approach where the public sector has worked closely with the private sector to deliver the vision.
A demonstrable track record of effective partnership working transcends all aspects of the IFSD from marketing to co-ordination of physical works.
And, the success of that partnership is underlined in particular by the confidence of the private sector which has, to date, committed well over 90% of the £750 million already secured.
The IFSD partnership comprises Scottish Enterprise, the economic development agency for the city, Glasgow City Council, the local authority with planning responsibility, the Scottish Government and Scottish Development International, the agency responsible for selling Scotland internationally.
These partners are joined by Scottish Financial Enterprise, the trade association which represents the financial services industry in Scotland, BT and a range of private sector companies including property developers.
Partnership in Action
Throughout the life of the IFSD, there has been a formal schedule of partnership meetings where the IFSD partnership meet to review progress, discuss future developments, analyse opportunities and share information.
All of the IFSD partners for example have enthusiastically adopted the IFSD message within their own marketing and PR programmes, thus securing a further major boost to the IFSD’s profile. And, effective partnership is also evident in the way that property developers work closely with city planning officials to ensure that public realm improvement works are co-ordinated with the completion of new office buildings.
The Future
The IFSD partners continue to work towards realising the overall vision and the partnership approach has extended to include major employers in the District and skills development programmes are being delivered to ensure a flow of skilled labour to support companies’ expansion plans.
