Regenerating Glasgow is a key objective. Over the last three years, Glasgow City Council has put a number of policy frameworks in place which set out its detailed aims and objectives for the physical economic and social renewal of the city.

Some of Glasgow’s major regeneration projects are listed below:
The Clyde Waterfront Initiative is a focus for £5.6bn (€8.03bn) investment and large scale step change projects. It provides an opportunity to drive economic growth, directly impact key sectors and make a major contribution to delivering the vision of a world class city.

At Pacific Quay, investment is supporting the development of Glasgow’s digital media quarter. BBC Scotland and the Scottish Media Group have already established their HQs at this location.

Glasgow has won the right to host the Commonwealth Games in 2014. President of the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF), Michael Fennell, made the historic announcement on 9th November 2007 during the CGF General Assembly in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

The Commonwealth Games site is part of a much larger regeneration project, Clyde Gateway, which stretches from Bridgeton Cross to the new M74 extension.
