Plans for a vibrant new restaurant and leisure quarter in
Glasgow's IFSD have been approved.
The £10 million Broomielaw Quay project is a joint venture
between Glasgow City Council and Capella Developments, part of
Glasgow-based Capella Group and once completed is expected to
create up to 150 new jobs.
It will feature up to nine restaurant, bar and cafe units within
a high quality public realm along the waterfront to create a
continental-style experience.
Jim Fitzsimons, chief executive of Capella Group, said the
granting of planning permission signalled the development was
firmly on track. He said: "This is great news and a real
endorsement by Glasgow City Council of our proposals for this
site. It will be a real asset to the IFSD and will help
ensure the continuing success of the Broomielaw and contribute to
the regeneration of the Clyde waterfront.
"We are already talking to signature restaurants and cafes and
look forward to creating a dynamic business and leisure location
for the city."
Construction on Broomielaw Quay is expected to commence in early
2012, with the development opening for business in spring 2013.
