International law firm Ashurst
confirmed this month that its Glasgow office has now grown to over
200 staff, making it the firm's fourth largest office globally.
Launched with a team of eight in August 2013, Ashurst set out to
create a centre of excellence, to drive change and innovation
within the firm globally.
This year alone has seen an additional 90 members of staff
join in a number of business support roles, as well as in Ashurst's
new legal resourcing model.
Ashurst has also created an alternative career proposition
for law graduates who are not pursuing the traditional traineeship
route. These Legal Analyst roles, as well as new Compliance Officer
roles, have seen Ashurst become one of the largest employers of law
graduates in Scotland over the past two years.
Mike Polson, Managing Partner of Ashurst Glasgow, said,
"We are the first firm to base such an operation in Scotland and
our Glasgow office has been grown completely from scratch, creating
not only a large number of high quality new jobs in the city, but
new careers for law graduates within the rapidly changing legal
profession".
