International law firm Ashurst is on track to create
300 new roles in Glasgow since it opened its office in 2013.
At launch, the Glasgow office had eight employees but has since
grown to over 280, making it the firm's fourth largest office
globally. Around 200 of the staff are assigned to business
services functions, including IT, finance, risk and compliance and
business development. The remaining staff make up the legal team in
Glasgow, consisting of legal analysts, legal technologists, legal
project co-ordinators and qualified lawyers.
Ashurst also recently introduced a new corporate practice, with the
hire of corporate associate Shaz Ali, from Morisons. This is the
third dedicated practice team in Glasgow, following banking and
commercial contracts, which were established to expand the firm's
alternative legal services.
Mike Polson, managing partner of Ashurst in Glasgow said: "We are
delighted to see the continued growth in both the scale and scope
of the support the Glasgow office provides to the wider network.
Our successful and highly flexible delivery model, provided by all
the teams in Glasgow, allows the firm to respond to the commercial
needs of the firm's clients, whilst remaining at the forefront of
change in the industry."
