Investment challenge for schools

20 Nov 2017

Financial knowledge, quick decision making, risk management and effective teamwork…..this month more than 1,500 S5/6 students from 61 schools across Glasgow, Lanarkshire, the West of Scotland and the North East are testing these vital skills in a unique competitive challenge.

The Investment Challenge uses the Finance Lab simulation to deliver an engaging, productive skills development experience, bringing together industry and education in a unique partnership.

Students are offered a challenging way of testing and developing their skills in a work-relevant context.  With the guidance of business mentors from sponsors BNP Paribas and First Direct, students learn how these skills could be used in a career in financial services.

The Challenge is designed to help teachers and employers meet the learning and career development needs of Scotland's young people, particularly those interested in a career in financial services.  It also provides an applied learning opportunity for Business Education, Economics and Maths students

Regional finals take place at BNP Paribas in Glasgow on 13 December and at City of Glasgow College on 14 December.
