JP Morgan
has confirmed plans to create 500 new technology jobs in Glasgow
over the next three years, building on its existing workforce of
more than one thousand in the city.
The announcement follows the bank's recent celebration of the
15th anniversary for its European Technology Centre in
the IFSD.
Underlining these growth plans, JP Morgan has recently signed a
new ten year lease on its existing Glasgow base in Waterloo Street,
taking sole occupancy of Alhambra House.
Among the new posts recruited this year, JP Morgan plans to
employ 50 new graduates. Paul Murphy, managing director of JP
Morgan's European Technology Centre said, "The draw when we set up
in Glasgow was the university pipeline and that is pretty much
still the case. We are very comfortable we have a great talent pool
and a good pipeline here".
The Centre develops a wide range of complex software and
technology services for use by JP Morgan across the globe. This
includes support for back office systems, trading functions, risk
management and mobile applications.
JP Morgan is a global leader in investment banking, financial
services for consumers and small businesses, commercial banking,
financial transaction processing, asset management and private
equity.
