JPMorgan Chase & Co. has announced plans to build a new
state-of-the-art technology home in Glasgow, coinciding with the
firm's 20th anniversary in the city. Scheduled to open
in 2022, the 270,000 sq ft, thirteen storey building on Argyle
Street, in the heart of Glasgow's IFSD, will have the capacity for
up to 2,700 employees.
JPMorgan currently employs around 2,000 people in Glasgow,
making it Scotland's largest technology employer.
The new office will feature the highest energy efficiency and
CO2 emission performance standards, in line with JPMorgan's
commitment to source renewable energy for 100% of its global power
needs by 2020. This includes LED lights, responsibly sourced
materials, minimised water consumption and over 350 bicycle
spaces.
Glasgow is a key part of the global technology network servicing
the full range of JPMorgan Chase's operations, providing vital
software development facilities to the firm and its clients.
Stephen Flaherty, Managing Director of J.P Morgan's Glasgow
Technology Centre said: "Our new home in Glasgow and our
continued investment in jobs, training and development reflects the
huge amount of talent available in the city. Our commitment to
Glasgow goes deeper still through the work we do with local schools
and universities."
