The former BHS site on Sauchiehall Street is the subject of
ambitious proposals for a £75million redevelopment.
Formal
Investments, the developer behind the plans, envisages a
12-storey scheme having a transformational impact on the area
around Sauchiehall Street.
The company's plans involve the "remodelling and refurbishment
of the building occupied by the former BHS store, adding new
boutique offices above the retail space and the improvement of a
third building on Sauchiehall Street".
The plans cover an area of 240,000 sq ft including retail and
"Grade A and design-style offices", replacing the former department
store and creating business space for approximately 1750
workers.
Subject to planning, work could start in the middle of next
year.
Formal Investments director Nicholas King said: "This proposal
shows a really exciting vision for an important site in Glasgow
city centre and will provide the highest quality environments for
retailers and business, large and small."
Glasgow Chamber of Commerce deputy chief executive Richard Muir
said: "This is good news for the city centre in general and for
Sauchiehall Street in particular. This redevelopment will help
attract new investment to the city."
