Douglas Academy, Milngavie and Trinity High School, Rutherglen were winners of the Investment Challenge, a competition where school teams work to grow a virtual investment fund, making decisions on what to buy and sell, based on their own research and incoming news stories.

The competition is supported by BNP Paribas Securities Services and first direct in partnership with City of Glasgow College, Skills Development Scotland and Global Investor Simulations.

Regional finals were held in Glasgow, Dundee and Lanarkshire. The team from Douglas Academy (pictured)  triumphed in the West region final, while Trinity High School won  the Lanarkshire final.

More than 1,400 pupils took part using the online business simulation Finance Lab, with volunteers from BNP Paribas Securities Services and first direct visiting schools to meet teachers and students and talk about career opportunities in the sector.

Attila Boncz, Senior Manager at BNP Paribas Securities Services, said: "This competition gives us the opportunity to promote the rich variety of careers the financial services sector has to offer".
