Around 200 senior figures from Glasgow's financial and business
services community gathered at Glasgow's leading conference venue,
200 St Vincent Street, to celebrate another year of outstanding
progress in the IFSD and to hear of future planned developments for
the District and the city.
Bailie Liz Cameron from Glasgow City Council updated
guests on the fantastic new City Deal where Glasgow and its
neighbouring local authorities have secured a mammoth £1.13 billion
fund to be invested in important infrastructure projects over the
next 10-20 years.
Paul Hughes from Scottish Enterprise
updated guests on the latest financial services firms locating or
expanding in the city and also talked about the emergence of the
Big Data revolution.
Andrew Berry from SAS UK and Mike
Polson from Ashurst
spoke of their experience as two very recent inward investors to
the IFSD.
Margaret Johnson from Morgan Stanley spoke about
the role of Scottish Investment Operations and also the work of the
Skills Sub Group of Glasgow Economic Leadership's Financial and
Business Services Workstream, while Peter Jibson from Mazars spoke about the
importance of talent attraction and development.
