Glasgow Business Portal Opens the Way to New Contracts

A new website - the Glasgow Business Portal - will allow businesses to compete for more than £1 billion worth of public and private sector contracts in the city.

Organisations will be able to bid through the new portal for contracts associated with the likes of the 2014 Commonwealth Games, the New South Glasgow Hospital, the first phase of the Glasgow School of Art's Garnethill campus redevelopment, 185-221 Buchanan Street (opposite Buchanan Galleries) and the University of Strathclyde's Technology and Innovation Centre.

These projects alone represent contract opportunities worth well over one billion pounds.

Examples of the contract opportunities on offer include everything from service contracts like catering and security to the different elements necessary to deliver massive construction projects.  Companies of all sizes can compete for these contracts.

The Glasgow Business Portal is based on the successful Commonwealth Games Business Portal platform, which has attracted more than 17,000 registrations since its launch just over two years ago.

The Glasgow Business Portal has been developed by Glasgow City Council, with the council's IT partner, ACCESS and Brookfield, main contractor for the New South Glasgow Hospital.

Businesses interested in registering for the Glasgow Business Portal should visit www.glasgow.gov.uk/businessportal
