More than 50 employees from the UK's top financial services companies based in Glasgow's International Financial Services District hit the city centre streets on Friday 11 November, Remembrance Day, to support Poppyscotland - the country's leading veterans' charity - and raised an impressive £8,714.38.

Using the newly refurbished Grand Central Hotel as its "command centre", the seven teams embarqued on Operation Corporate Poppy and started fund-raising manoeuvres at 0800 hours until late in the afternoon.

There were two teams from Morgan Stanley, three from Tesco Bank and one each from employees of BNP Paribas and Scottish & Southern Energy. They were all under the able command of Ewan Aitken, who spent six years in the Royal Regiment of Scotland before joining Poppyscotland as an event organizer for a year, and is now working for Morgan Stanley.

Richard Hughes, Executive Director with Morgan Stanley, said of the event: "This is an important year for Poppyscotland as it celebrates 90 years - we were proud to be involved and to be able help raise awareness and funds on Armistice Day."

Poppyscotland were delighted with the amount raised and look forward to repeating this event next year.
