Christine Knox

Associate Director, HRC Recruitment

IFSDG:  How long have you worked in HRC Recruitment?

Christine:  It'll be 16 years in August.

IFSDG:  How many people work at HRC Recruitment?

Christine:  55 - and counting!

IFSDG:  What is the vision for HRC Recruitment in Glasgow?

Christine:  Having just moved office, it's about enjoying our new surroundings (and the views!). We're also focusing on growth - both personally and professionally for all of our team - and moving into new sectors.

IFSDG:  What's a typical day for you?

Christine:  There's no such thing as a typical day in recruitment. My days vary from being in the office catching up with my teams, working through emails, meeting with applicants for roles, to meeting with clients to discuss their recruitment needs or attending events. It's a very reactive industry and my plans for the day can change at any point.

IFSDG:  Why did HRC Recruitment choose to locate in the IFSD in Glasgow?

Christine:  We have just moved into our new state-of-the-art offices, where we are surrounded by lots of the clients we work closely with. We have a fantastic working environment for our staff which we are very proud of.

IFSDG:  Three good things about working in Glasgow?

Christine:  The thriving business community, great transport links for travel throughout the UK and the people really do make the city great.

IFSDG:  What is your biggest business achievement to date?

Christine:  I would have to say being able to progress in my career with HRC Recruitment whilst also working part-time hours. HRC Recruitment has a number of female leaders within the business who work part time - we're fortunate to work in a supportive business that promotes flexible working hours. I was also previously awarded the Scottish Recruitment Consultant of the Year award, which I am really proud of.

IFSDG:  What is the best investment you ever made?

Christine:  My two lovely little girls. I love being a mum and being able to have a great work life-balance allows me to feel fulfilled at work as well as spending quality time with my kids as they grow up.

IFSDG:  Which businessperson or company do you most admire and why?

Christine:  It has to be J.K. Rowling. Coming from very humble beginnings to be named the world's richest author is very admirable. She is a true philanthropist who lost her billionaire status because she gave away so much of her earnings to charities. And who doesn't love indulging in a Harry Potter book or film?!

IFSDG:  What did you want to be when you were a child?

Christine:  I can't remember having a burning desire for one particular job as I was growing up; although, I did think I might do something in the medical field. I always had a desire to work in a role where I was able to help people, but being very squeamish made a medical career a no-go.

IFSDG:  What do you do to relax away from the office?

Christine:  I spend as much time with my family and friends as possible. I also love holidays in the sunshine!

IFSDG: I-Phone or Android?

Christine:  iPhone

IFSDG: Favourite band?

Christine:  Oasis

IFSDG: Favourite sport?

Christine:  I don't really have one.

IFSDG: Favourite movie?

Christine:  Top Gun

IFSDG: Sunshine or snow?

Christine:  Always sunshine

IFSDG:  …and finally, what three words sum you up?

Christine:  Organised, outgoing and conscientious.
