Keith Storrie

IFSDG:  How long have you worked at Towergate Insurance?

Keith Storrie: 2 months

IFSDG:  How many people work at Towergate Insurance?

Keith Storrie: Over 200 in Scotland

IFSDG:  What is your vision for Towergate Insurance in Glasgow?

Keith Storrie: Working the team to make us the Broker of Choice.

IFSDG:  What's a typical day for you?

Keith Storrie: I'm an early riser (4.45am) and like to be in the office by 7am.  Have long drive to office (over 65 miles) - and want to work in Glasgow.  Every day is different - some client days, some with staff meetings and others are a mixture of both.  No days are ever boring and all seem to pass too quickly.  However, if a day passes without some creative thinking, I feel I have missed an opportunity.

IFSDG:  How many emails do you receive on an average day?

Keith Storrie: Far too many.  Many people have forgotten the art of talk.

IFSDG:  Why did Towergate Insurance choose to locate in the IFSD in Glasgow?

Keith Storrie: Glasgow is well known as the insurance "heart" of Scotland therefore it was obvious we would want our Scottish flagship office in the city.

IFSDG:  Three good things about working in Glasgow?

Keith Storrie: The people, the transport system (airport, rail, subway, buses) and the buzz of industry.

IFSDG:  What is your biggest business achievement to date?

Keith Storrie: When I had my own company I was appointed as insurance consultant to part of Aeroflot - when the Russians were still in control!!!!

IFSDG:  What is the best investment you ever made?

Keith Storrie: My wife - after 42 years together she still puts up with me.  I sold my E-type Jaguar for £350 to buy the engagement ring - what is the E-type worth today?

IFSDG:  Which business person or company do you most admire and why?

Keith Storrie: Robert Morris of Morris Furniture Group - he is always himself and never pretends to be anything else.

IFSDG:  What did you want to be when you were a child?

Keith Storrie: An adult first and then, second, a Canadian Mountie.  Horses and uniforms have always been my weakness.

IFSDG:  What do you do to relax away from the office?

Keith Storrie: Away from the office??????? - hardly a concept I understand!  With 16 horses at the back door, a fencing company, 3 tractors, 5 trailers, two daughters and partners and my wife to keep happy, I am working my way to relaxation.

IFSDG:  Blackberry or I-Phone?

Keith Storrie: Blackberry

IFSDG:  Suit or no suit?

Keith Storrie: Definitely suit - I'm not a dress down man in the working environment.

IFSDG:  Football or rugby?

Keith Storrie: Neither - prefer show jumping

IFSDG:  Wine or beer?

Keith Storrie: Champagne please!

IFSDG:  Sunshine or snow?

Keith Storrie: Either - I can play in both.

IFSDG:  and finally, what three words to sum you up

Keith Storrie: No surprises please.
