IFSDG:  How long have you worked in RSA Insurance Group?

Liz: 31 Years

IFSDG:  How many people work at RSA Insurance Group?

Liz: In Scotland we are a major employer with over 400 staff working in Glasgow and the only General Insurer to have a presence in Edinburgh.   Across RSA Group we have over 13,500 employees with our core markets being the UK, Ireland, Canada and Scandinavia, with capability to write business across the globe.

IFSDG:  What is the vision for RSA Insurance Group in Glasgow?

Liz: Quite simply to become a  'Best in Class' company, providing better value for our customers, employers, society, the environment and our shareholders.

IFSDG:  What's a typical day for you?

Liz: There is no typical day which is why I love my job.  Servicing customers across Scotland means one day you could be in Inverness talking about Cyber Insurance and the next day meeting a client in the Care Sector to understand their business needs.   I do however like to catch up early with customers whilst travelling in the car which can work for them too, as their diaries are equally busy.

IFSDG:  Why did RSA Insurance Group choose to locate in the IFSD in Glasgow?

Liz: Glasgow is the hub of the General Insurance market in Scotland and where our business has seen consistent success.  The IFSD provides a vast range of superb office locations and Glasgow has fantastic road, air and rail networks, all of which were a major consideration in locating in Glasgow, in terms of easy access for our local and UK employees and for being able to reach our customers, wherever they may be.

IFSDG: Three good things about working in Glasgow?

Liz: People, Shops and The 'Ladies of Insurance' Lunch

IFSDG:  What is your biggest business achievement to date?

Liz: Being elected President of the Insurance and Actuarial Society of Glasgow which is the local representative body of the CII (Chartered Insurance Institute) with a membership of 3,500.  It's run by a group of industry volunteers who all want to give something back to the profession locally, by helping and supporting others achieve or maintain their professional status.

IFSDG:  What is the best investment you ever made?

Liz: My dog - a Swedish Vallhund.

IFSDG:  Which businessperson or company do you most admire and why?

Liz: Alice Thompson and Josh Littlejohn, founders of Social Bite.  How can you not admire their determination to create both training and employment opportunities for homeless people and then donate 100% of their profits to charity. A real inspiration to us all.

IFSDG:  What did you want to be when you were a child?
