IFSDG:  How long have you worked in HouseTree Business?

Sarah: Over 20 years

IFSDG:  How many people work at HouseTree Business?

Sarah: We have a team of 5

IFSDG:  What is the vision for HouseTree Business in Glasgow?

Sarah: We see so many companies fail through lack of funding.   It's the biggest issue companies struggle with.   Recently, we have partnered with R and D Tax Specialist Ltd., an extremely talented team of 13 with engineering and technology backgrounds such as Ford, Toyota, Siemens, as well as finance and management.  As members of the Institute of International Export, we are always looking at the Finance of International Trade.  We want to help our clients with funding and guide them through what might be ahead with Brexit.  With good financial reporting behind them, we plan to help companies grow.

IFSDG:  What's a typical day for you?

Sarah: Checking emails, CPD, onboarding new clients and checking in with current clients, as we provide consultancy.   Producing management accounts, cashflows and forecasts.

IFSDG:  Why did HouseTree Business choose to locate in the IFSD in Glasgow?

Sarah: Glasgow is a very vibrant city, full of individual businesses and opportunities.  It is a great city to work and live in.

IFSDG:  Three good things about working in Glasgow?

Sarah: Coming from Dublin, I am a city girl so,

1. Glasgow is a city.

2. The food and drink/networking.

3. Plenty to do in sports and leisure.

IFSDG:  What is your biggest business achievement to date?

Sarah: Our company was very proud to be shortlisted 5 times and winning the ICB Global LUCA award for Best Small Practice UK.  I was honoured to receive the award from HRH Prince Michael of Kent at the London Baftas.

IFSDG:  What is the best investment you ever made?

Sarah: Spending time with my son. He is a fantastic singer, loves horses and loves music. He has just joined the Youth Volunteer Police force and I don't think I could be any more proud.

IFSDG:  Which businessperson or company do you most admire and why?

Sarah: I am going to say Richard Branson and Bill Gates.   I love trains and particularly like the Glasgow to London route.  I am mad about everything tech and Bill Gates was one of the originals.

IFSDG:  What did you want to be when you were a child?

Sarah: I wanted to be in charge of a large sports centre, so I could basically have the swimming pool to myself.

IFSDG:  What do you do to relax away from the office?

Sarah: Cycle, swim, visiting other cities, going to concerts and visiting a nice pub.

IFSDG:  I-Phone or Android?
