GCU Students Win Major Awards

The achievements of risk management and financial services students at Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) have been recognised by industry.

The students picked up prizes at the Insurance and Actuarial Society of Glasgow (IASG) industry dinner, where they gathered with more than 600 insurance and financial services professionals.

Kathleen Kilmurray, a final-year student on the BA Risk Management programme was named Royal Sun Alliance Risk Management Student of the Year, while fourth-year BA Finance, Investment and Risk student Eric Williamson was presented with the Zurich Insurance prize for Financial Services Student of the Year. Both companies also sponsored attendance at the event for four other GCU students who had been shortlisted.

Dr Patrick Ring, Senior Lecturer in Financial Services, said: "We are pleased that the calibre of our students continues to be recognised by the industries in which they intend to carve out careers."

The IASG is the West of Scotland arm of the Chartered Insurance Institute, the world's largest professional body dedicated to insurance and financial services, with over 115,000 members in more than 150 countries.
