Glasgow will welcome three new hotels in the coming months,
adding nearly 400 rooms between them to the city's accommodation
stock,
The 120-room Village
The Hotel Club Glasgow will open at Pacific Quay this
month, while the 170-room
Travel Lodge will open its doors on Queen Street in the city
centre later in the summer and the 101-room
ibis Styles Hotel located in the heart of city's Merchant City
is scheduled to open in October.
Scott Taylor, Chief Executive of
Glasgow City Marketing Bureau said: "The opening of three new
hotels is a clear indication that confidence is at an all-time high
in Glasgow.
"This combined investment of more than £20million is the perfect
bellwether for anyone interested in how Glasgow's tourism industry
is performing."
The news coincided with the release of new business tourism figures
which showcased almost £75million worth of conference business in
the first six months of 2015, as the city's global profile
continues to soar.
Between January and June this year, Glasgow has confirmed an
additional 229 conferences on the books until 2022, equating to
more than 65,000 delegates travelling to the city from global
destinations across this period.
