The growing range of internships and work experience
opportunities for undergraduates in Glasgow's financial and
business services sector is promoted in a new initiative led by Glasgow Economic
Leadership (GEL) and supported by the IFSD Partnership.
Glasgow's IFSD is
dedicating a section of its website to act as an easy to
access, single point of information for undergraduates. Specific
examples include summer internships, 26 week and 52 week
internships and work experience sessions lasting from one day to
one week.
Among the employers involved so far are Barclays, BNP Paribas,
JP Morgan, Morgan Stanley and PwC. Now, more Glasgow based
employers are being encouraged to use the facility to promote their
own internships and work experience opportunities.
Margaret Johnson, Executive Director, Human Resources, Morgan
Stanley who chairs the People and Skills Sub Group of GEL's
Financial and Business Services Workstream said, "This is a great
example of partnership in action. GEL is working closely with the
universities, employers and the IFSD to communicate the breadth of
opportunities and so attract young people to seriously consider
long term careers in the sector."
