500 New Jobs Boost for IFSD

27 Feb 2009

Insurance provider esure is to create 500 new, permanent jobs in the IFSD. The internet and telephone based insurance company already employs 610 staff in Glasgow, the largest of its three UK offices. The company will create 250 jobs in customer services within the next 18 months, with a further increase of 250 jobs by 2014.

Commenting on behalf of the IFSD Partnership, Councillor Steven Purcell, leader, Glasgow City Council said, "This is fantastic news for the city of Glasgow, especially in these times of global economic difficulties. esure's decision to substantially expand its presence in Glasgow is testament to the availability and quality of the people it has employed here, since it became one of the first companies to locate in the IFSD back in 2001. The success of the IFSD to date has been delivered through a close working relationship between the public and private sectors and this will continue in the months and years ahead, as we work to create the right infrastructure and environment, with the right support mechanisms, for employers in the city."

The Scottish Government has supported the expansion plans by offering the company a Regional Selective Assistance grant of £1.4 million.
