New Executive Director to lead Glasgow's Regeneration

Glasgow City Council has appointed Richard Brown as its new Executive Director of Development and Regeneration Services.

Mr Brown, 42, takes up the post with immediate effect, from Gerry Gormal, who is retiring.

In his new role, Mr Brown will be in charge of driving forward the continued regeneration of Glasgow and managing a staff of around 500.

Mr Brown's role in recent years has been the Managing Director for City Property, the council's arms length organisation, and before that, Managing Director of Community Planning.

Mr Brown said: "As a Glaswegian, I am hugely excited at the challenge that lies ahead. I will endeavour to ensure the pace of work that has helped to shape Glasgow into the vibrant, thriving and exciting city it is today will continue."

Bailie Liz Cameron, Executive Member for Development and Regeneration Services, said: "I know that Richard's vast experience will ensure continued great leadership of a department which is at the heart of ensuring Glasgow remains open for business."
