IFSDG: How long have you worked in c2 concepts?
Mark: Since day one in December 2003 when in my
infinite wisdom, I decided to setup the firm!
IFSDG: How many people work at c2
concepts?
Mark: A dozen
IFSDG: What is the vision for c2
concepts in Glasgow?
Mark: Happy clients, happy team, happy business
. . . . . . .
On the business side, we focus on creative interior architecture
solutions for our clients' places of work and the vision remains
that we strengthen our reputation and the c2: brand by delivering
tremendous design solutions inside and outside of Scotland from
Glasgow
IFSDG: What's a typical day for
you?
Mark: There are two typical days, I
suppose.
One is where I head into our Glasgow office and the other is
where I head for the red-eye flight to our London office but after
that anything can happen, . . . . . . in as much as the day can be
about design project meetings, meeting new clients to talk about
their property strategy or aspirations for a new office interior or
refurbishment of the one that they are in at the moment
IFSDG: Why did c2 concepts choose to
locate in the IFSD in Glasgow?
Mark: Glasgow (and Scotland) has a great
history for design and invention so there's a wealth of very
talented and hard-working designers & architects here but it
also has a vibrant business community and a really enterprising
attitude to life, so it's a fun place to work and that's
important.
Glasgow is also well known and respected across the UK and
internationally so it's a great place in which to grow a great
brand.
IFSDG: Three good things about working in
Glasgow?
Mark: And the results in no particular order
are, . . . . .
Cultured and sophisticated for business & lifestyle
Good people
Beautiful city in a beautiful part of the world that's easy to
access
IFSDG: What is your biggest business
achievement to date?
Mark: Turning the business into a brand with a
good reputation for what we do
IFSDG: What is the best investment you
ever made?
There have been a few but most recently it would probably be our
own office move to St Vincent Place where we of course designed our
really cool office environment (take a look at the photos
http://www.c2concepts.co.uk/projects/Queens-House-Office-Fit-Out
)
It would have been a mistake if we hadn't done, . . . . "does
what it says on the tin".
And if it wasn't that it, was our universally-loved-bean-to-cup
coffee machine!
IFSDG: Which businessperson or company
do you most admire and why?
Mark: Michelangelo (6 March 1475 - 18 February
1564), unique and outstanding technical and creative wizard who was
centuries ahead of his time.
IFSDG: What did you want to be when you
were a child?
Mark: An Inventor, . . . . . didn't quite
manage that but Designer is close.
IFSDG: What do you do to relax away
from the office?
Mark: Family, old friends, socialising, doing
various things in the fresh air
IFSDG: I-Phone or Android?
Mark: Are you kidding, . . . . we only have
Apple Macs in the business so it has to be iPhone (and all the
other Apple gadgets!)
IFSDG: Favourite band?
Mark: Easy question, . . . . Fleetwood Mac, no
. . . . . . Radiohead, no . . . . . Neil Young and Crazy Horse, no
. . . . let's say The Blue Nile as that's a Glasgow band, no . . .
. . . . . . .
IFSDG: Favourite sport?
Mark: Le rugby (if watching) / the gouf (if
playing)
IFSDG: Favourite movie?
Mark: Blade Runner, . . . "I've seen things you
people wouldn't believe . . . . "
IFSDG: Sunshine or snow?
Mark: Sunshine
IFSDG: and finally, what three
words sum you up?
Mark: Fun, passionate, creative
