The most satisfying thing about my job is ….
educating clients on how to manage their tax obligations as
efficiently as possible. Also making clients aware of reliefs
available that can improve cash flow and profitability.
The hottest topic in our sector right now is ….
probably Research & Development relief as it is undergoing
significant changes which will impact on the mechanism for future
claims and how much qualifying businesses can claim.
The career achievement I am most proud of is ….
being dual qualified as a CA (Chartered Accountant) and a CTA
(Chartered Tax Adviser).
The most important career advice I would give to my
younger self is …. to work hard and get your
qualifications under your belt as soon as possible as, life gets
busy when you have a family.
The three best things about working in Glasgow
are …. easy access for me as I live in Glasgow but also
central for staff and clients, my children go to school in Glasgow
and there are plenty of shops available.
My favourite part of Glasgow is …. the city
centre as it has a large variety of shops and restaurants suitable
for all tastes.
My best tip to achieve a better work/life balance
is …. to be strict and leave work behind you when you
leave the office, as it is too easy to continue working from home
and that eats into your personal time.
My first ever job was …. working for PKF
Accountants and Business Advisers and the most valuable lesson I
learned there was how important it was to build good working
relationships with colleagues and how vital it is to build a
network of contacts.
